5 of 6 people found the following review helpful: over-hyped and under-performing 8/2/2008 I used to read (and purchase) all of the anita blake novels and as the price of the books went up the quality went down. Im over the lack of plot and sensless purposeless x rated excertps. I am sure everyone else is too by the average rating this book has gotten. just wanted to put this out the in case someone who has any impact on her writing can read it. en to your fans and start writing a strong, interesting herione and stop with interior monologues, enless scrutinizing of minutae and pointless orgy scenes... geez we got it she likes sex. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful: Getting bored with Anita Blake 7/31/2008 I only read this book out of some twisted loyalty tot he author. I've all of her other books, and with that kind of investment in time it seems wrong to stop even though I know that LKH has stopped writing anything even remotely interesting. Aside from the gratuitous porn, the plotline(in all of her latest books) builds and builds and then just ends with an all too simple explanation in the final chapter. Here's to hoping that LKH reads these reviews and begins to take notice because I now that if she takes a little more time (read: quits running a book-mill) and puts a little more thought into her projects, her loyal readers will start buying her books again, instead of checking them out at the library for a two-hour read. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful: I am tired of sex... 7/30/2008 With the last Anita Blake, The Harlequin, I really though the series might redeem itself from the pornography slump it has fallen into. I was almost excited to get my hands on Blood Noir. As I started reading the book, I literally wanted to cry considering the first 3-4 chapters are about a threesome between Anita, Nathaniel, and Jason. I made it about two more chapters after that and through up my hands. I am done with Blake. The series has taken an extreme turn for the worse. I am going to stick with my Rachel Morgan, Cassandra Palmer, Mercy Thompson, and the Twilight series from now on. LKH needs to take a hint and tone down the sex because it REALLY takes away from the book. Thank You. Was this review helpful?

16 of 17 people found the following review helpful: I kept an open mind 7/27/2008 Anita Blake was a fantastic character through Obsidian Butterfly. She has now gone from a female facing the challenges of working in a man's world, who had believable sexual angst, to a sex obsessed and empty character. I have been so disappointed in the Anita Blake novels, but assumed LKH was working out personal issues and would turn it around. I was unable to make it past two chapters in this book. In order to say something positive, I will compliment the cover; it was very well done. Unfortunately, despite my open mind, I found the content to be a flop. Thank You. Was this review helpful?
