I bought this camera on the excellent recommendations from Ken Rockwell's site, as well as the Amazon reviews. However, upon receiving it, I got the 'Lens Error, restart camera' error and the camera is not able to take pictures.

I might up the rating when I receive a new one - this one

Ritter and Harte's attempts to care for the girls are complicated by their responsibility to deliver a herd of horses while avoiding a group of bitter rivals intent on kidnapping the girls for their own purposes. Classic Western action takes center stage in this dramatic miniseries!SPECIAL FEATURES: Making of Broken Trail - The Making of a Legendary Western Sneak Peek at Hustle on AMCSystem Requirements:Running Time 240 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: TELEVISION/SERIES & SEQUELS Rating: NR UPC: 043396157170 Manufacturer No: 15717
The lives of two stoic cowboys and five abused Chinese women become intertwined in Walter Hill's sprawling miniseries Broken Trail. Print Ritter (Academy Award winner Robert Duvall) and his nephew Tom Harte (Thomas Haden Church, Sideways) agree to deliver a herd of 500 horses from Oregon to Wyoming. Along the way, they rescue the young women--most of them still just girls--who're being transported to a brothel to have their virginity auctioned off. When the madam sees she is about to lose the girls, she screams at Tom, "What about my property?" He shouts back, "That's the price of being a capitalist, lady." Unable to overcome the language barrier, Print assigns numbers to the girls. Number 3, Sun Foy (Gwendoline Yeo, Desperate Housewives) is the most fearless and perceptive of them. Though the others don't want to be called Number 4--an unlucky numeral in their homeland--Ye Fung (Olivia Cheng), the most tragic of the group, doesn't care. Targeted for her beauty, she finds herself unable to overcome the trauma. The number suits her, in her mind. Along the way, Print and Tom rescue Nola Johns (Greta Scacchi), the proverbial hooker with the heat of gold, who was forced into prostitution after her husband died.

The cinematography is gorgeous as the camera sweeps over the lush landscape (the Canadian Rockies subbing in for wild West of the late 1800s) and Hill does a formidable job of pacing this 3-hour drama with just the right balance of dialogue and action. For Duvall, Broken Trail is the last piece to his Western trilogy, which started with the miniseries Lonesome Dove followed by the feature film Open Range. He is instantly likeable as a father figure and the viewer never doubts that his intention for the girls is honorable. As for Haden Church, he has never been as appealing as he is in this role. Gruff and flawed, he softens when he exchanges shy glances with Sun Foy. The trek is long and hard and the unlikely band of travelers will face much hardship. If not as satisfying as the rich, detailed Lonesome Dove, Broken Trail makes up for it with a wonderful storyline and some fine acting by all involved. As for the conclusion, it may surprise some viewers who are expecting a more traditional version of the happy ending. --Jae-Ha Kim

Duvall is back on the trail again
8/27/2008
If there are any actors today that can fit into chaffs and cowboy boots, they would be Clint Eastwood & Robert Duvall. Duvall has stated in an interview that of all the roles he has played as a character actor, none fit him better than that of a cowboy. This film is in a sense a continuation of his roles from "Lonesome Dove" to "Open Range" in which he plays a seasoned cowboy who has to fight the bitter elements, human and natural, in order to get the job done. Duvall is ably supported here by Thomas Haden Church who in a break from his comedic roles, is excellent as his long estranged nephew who joins him on the cattle drive. With excellent direction from long time vet Walter Hill and some fine support from Greta Scacchi as a former prostitute with a yen for Duvall, and James Russo & Chris Mulkey as the villains--"Broken Trail" is a trip you don't want to end despite its length (I saw a pre-screening of it before its showing on AMC with Hill in attendance and was impressed).

Easily one of the best-looking, best-acted westerns I've ever seen.
8/24/2008
Both Robert Duvall and Thomas Haden Church excel and head a marvelous cast in this gripping western that is filled with amazingly beautiful images of the American Northwest. About 3 hours long, but it seems much less. I wanted it to go on and on. Two men with a plan for the future discover just how many curves fate can throw in their direction, and they adapt wonderfully. This is a western that your wife will enjoy as well as yourself; sometimes the heartstrings are being pulled as well as the triggers. The images on Blu-Ray are outstanding.

Broken movie...
8/22/2008
An interesting western but filled with nudity and actions that bring the quality of he movie down. The acting was less than smooth.

Two cowboys save five chinese girls and have to take them cross country with them on their cattle drive.

I can't recommend this movie to any one.

Excellent beyond words!
8/2/2008
This is wonderful movie where the cast fits "hand in glove." Words cannot describe how uplifting, heartwarming and refreshing it is to see a movie that focuses on compassion and care for others such as this, rather than the ad nauseum sagas of the self-centered, surgically "beautified" celebrities of today. Robert Duvall has starred in many movies that depict real people in realistic life situations, always with a villain we "love to hate." MORE PLEASE! M.L. Paxton

Good Buy!!
7/30/2008
I would compare this movie to BBC Planet Earth. Both films are great, have a lot of amazing shots and a few not so amazing. My machine plays this movie at about half of computing power, electricity is filtered, HDTV (used as monitor)calibrated with Spider2Express. This Blu-ray release is not as good as 3:10 To Yuma. I would still recommend this purchase.
