Great little camera

7/6/2009

I've had my A560 for a year and a half now. It's awesome. It replaced a canon 3.2 mp i bought a long time ago. This one is much better on batteries and very easy to use. In fact, i'm bidding on a used one now on ebay to send to my son in Afghanistan. He managed to break his newer Canon, only saying it's in pieces now. I'm guessing it was shot or something, but he hasn't said. So, i really like the camera and will stick with canon for my next one.

Great camera!

6/21/2009

The only reason it received a 4-star from me is... this camera needs more zoom! Other than that, I have been really pleased. It's a perfect point and shoot and I'm very certain it's easier to use for most people (I'm technologically challenged). I have taken this camera so many different places and taken great pictures. I have kids and animals, so taking "action" shots have been really good as well. I took pics of my kids jumping off the swings - in mid-air - and loved the pictures. All I had to do was lightly press on the button to activate the camera and as soon as they jumped, press it down all the way and "ta-dah!", wonderful! Does it have it's drawbacks. I'm sure it does. I just haven't experienced them. :)
As for batteries, regular AA batteries are worthless with this camera. So, I recommend getting lithium. Pricey, but they're great in lasting a long time (more pics).
I also like how the batteries and memory card go in the same place. It keeps it in the same spot.
The manual was easy to understand (when I read it two years ago) and detailed all you needed to know.

Great camera.

This is a great little camera. I got this for Christmas over two years ago to replace my Polaroid i832, and this camera is by far superior. It takes great photos indoors and out, and is my ideal travel companion. :P

I wish that I could get the right settings for it to not to blur, and at times shutter speed can be a little slow, but overall, it takes pictures with a great quality.

Camera disappointment

3/29/2009

Although it looked good in theory, the PowerShot A560 has been a major disappointment in practice.

The batteries die faster than fruit flies. I have inserted new batteries, only to find as I go for the quick, cute, candid shot of the dogs they've already died (the batteries, not the dogs).

The design is just bulky enough to be annoying, with an area that curves out for the useless batteries. Because I wind up changing the batteries so often, the casing has now come loose and doesn't close properly. Definitely a camera that needs to be babied.

It does more than just getting the job done.

The Canon PowerShot A560 is definitely on the higher end of point-and-shoot cameras. I have been using this model for over a year now and it does not displease. I have compared this aside many other similar and popular brands including Kodak and Nikon. The camera is better not only in quality but in other things such as features, flexibility, and compatibility. ZoomBrowserEX, the program that comes with the camera is a neat, simple-to-use program. You can also step it up a level and use it for more advancement using CHDK, an open source program made especially for Canon cameras. Canon overall has the best cameras and finer cut lenses to help you get the shot you want, when you want it. If you aren't looking to fork out $300-$800 dollars for a professional camera the Canon PowerShot A560 can make a good advanced camera.
