Does not work with a 16 gb sdhc card. Tried the Kodak downloads, forums, and Kodak customer support. No option worked. Don't waste your time.

I am surprised with the picture quality.. of course you can not compete with $ 3,000.00 cost camcorder. i am not a professional just needed for here and there.Also it has 5mp still photo feature. i can not not believe this little can be so wonder, absolutely love it and will recomened others to buy it.

For the money....ease..and portability..this is a nice little camera...great 1080 playback as well.....nice upgrade form the zi6.

I just got this from bestbuy (they gave me 50% off b/c the box had been opened but the camcorder never used - sick deal).

I was looking at all the pocket HD camcorders, and had decided the Kodak Zi8 was too expensive. Thank god I found this deal, because this thing is worth every damn penny, even paying the full retail price.

I'm in Colorado skiing right now, and took the Zi8 up on the mountain. I used picture mode, as well as the 720p 60fps (sport) mode for action ski videos. I haven't gotten home yet to upload to my computer, but the pictures and videos look pristine on the camcorder itself (which has a great quality and size screen). The 720p 60fps HD video didn't miss a thing. Flawlessly smooth with video quality so high that I can't even imagine what the 1080p would look like. I was holding it filming as I skied through dense trees, so it handled both fast action motion and low-light conditions. Basically, both the picture and video quality was great on the mountain, even when the visability and lighting was bad. I almost forgot, even the digital zoom was way better than I'd expect. This thing just blew me away.

I'll break down why this thing is by far the most superior pocket HD camcorder:
1. Quality. nothing can touch this thing in that department, unless you go up to bigger HD camcorders obviously.
2. Takes Pictures. I don't have a digital camera, so I wanted a pocket HD camcorder that takes good quality stills. The ever-so-popular Flip doesn't do stills, and the other ones that do don't do them well from what I hear.
3. Build/Design. Well constructed, sleek, very easy to use, beautiful large screen for reviewing your stills and videos. Having physical buttons instead of "touch" buttons is often overlooked. You always know what you're pressing, and you don't ever accidentally mess up your videos, because you don't have to worry about those annoying "touch" buttons.
4. accessories. comes with ALL the cords and TV cables you'd need (for HD and SD TVs), as well as a nice leather wrist-strap, which I loved b/c it made sure I didn't drop it into the snow.

Only criticisms (minor as they are):
1. a little big, but not bad. Kind of like the size of a Blackberry, maybe a tad bigger. Can't be greedy though, this thing films 1080p full HD, and 60fps 720p HD. It's tiny when you consider that fact.
2. software. CORRECTION: I initially said the Arcsoft MediaImpression software didn't run well, but it works fine. It's quite adequate, and from the reviews of other comparable devices, it seems superior.
3. price. It's pricey, but man is it worth it. Especially when the Flip is similarly priced.


This is my favorite gadget in awhile. The pros WAAAAY outweigh the cons (which are nearly non-existent). If you're looking for an HD pocket camcorder and want media and build quality, look no further. This is for you.

Kodak Zi8 Camcorder

I purchased this for my mom as a Christmas gift. When she told me the things she didn't need for gifts this year, a camcorder was one of them. I wanted her to be surprised. All I can say, is WOW. She was surprised. She loves the portability and quality of the recordings. She never had seen anything like this before. She's still playing around with it, but so far is totally in love with it. She has a grand kid that is graduating from high school this spring, and I wanted her to have some modern and easy to carry around. She still has an old VHSC camcorder from the early 1990's that is not the best at taking movies. This way she can just hook it up to her computer and use the software that is installed on the camcorder and burn movies to CD or send them to people via e-mail. The only 2 unfortunate things that I didn't care for, is that it didn't come with any memory. Had to buy her an 8GB HDSC memory card. The microphone isn't the best. May have to get her an external microphone to hook up to it. I also purchased an extra battery when I ordered this. That way when her and my dad go on vacation, she can take this with and record memories of their trips. Overall it's a great little piece of electronics and was very impressed.
