Great for what it is meant to do: small HD camcorder, good res, great for quickly catching memories... But don't expect it to replace the big HD camcorders.

Love my new Zi8. I only use it for simple family videos. Great for recording the kids, the pets etc. It is very easy to use and does not feel like the hassle that a bigger vidoe recorder is. I can just grab it and go. I don't have to worry about tapes, batteries and the like. I have not attempted to put the recordings on to my computer yet. I am looking foreward to using this great little camera on my trip tp Europe. Oh and the still pictures are GREAT!! Overall very happy with the purchase. I would buy it again in a minute!!

The Kodak Zi8 is a well thought out pocket size video camera. It has
settings for HD 720p and 1080p, it's easy to use and takes great video and decent pictures. the software included with the video camera works great and you'll spend many happy hours taking video
of whatever.

Excellent Choice for Light, Easy Video Capture

I bought this item as a Christmas present for my wife. As an aside, she is very, shall we say, "gadget aware," by which I mean she quickly assesses electronic products like this for size, function, ease of use, convenience, and general attractiveness, and is more than willing to turn her nose up at something that doesn't cut it. Other items have quickly disappeared into the cupboard and never seen again.

This camera has been a hit, to say the least. It is lightweight and sleek, easily fitting into a pocket or carry-along bag. Its appearance is suitably appealing. The quality of the video it captures is very, very good, even when expanded to television-sized screens (we've not yet projected it onto a 100-inch screen, but will try it).

The camera was used by her to capture our Christmas-day activities, especially our four-year old son opening his presents and playing. The camera is inconspicuous enough that it did not draw his attention and thus compromise 'candid' shots. To those of you who have small children, this feature cannot be overstated. It has subsequently been on a trip to Cancun, where it was used to record and share high-quality images of him playing in the sand, in the waves, around the pool, etc. Since I could not go (working), it was terrific to be able to see each evening videos of the two of them playing.

Which gets to the final point- it is quite easy to capture the video and then transfer it to the computer (e.g., youtube, facebook, other social media share sites). For the non-tech savvy, this is an excellent way by which you can easily, quickly, and conveniently share important moments with friends and family who may be far away. In short, for the relatively low price, it's an excellent buy for people who like to shoot and share video memories, and you need not be Cecil B. DeMille or Alan Turing to use it.

My wife wanted an easier to operate video camera. Have had a Sony minicam for years but she could never figure out how to operate or even have it ready when needed. The Kodak is very handy and only has 4 or 5 buttons to figure out and is sooooooo handy. The battery life is a couple of hours or so and we ran it for that after the first charge during Christmas and it was still working. It has hung up 2 times and we have had to take the battery out to get it to reset, but that is pretty much a normal for my wife who has the magical gift of touching computers or anything electronic and they do weird things.
