I have to confess I'm not a 'camera' person-- I'm probably like most of you reading this-- just looking for a good camera that takes good pictures. We've had this camera for about a month, and honestly I'm not impressed so far. I had a Nikon before this one that was 4 years old and I accidently brok

I got this pick and it has really been everything I wanted it to be. I like the heavy picks because you can use them on the guitar for a nice clear almost ringy tone and you can take it and use it on the bass too. Also, the Fender 351, well it's a classic shape and it's pretty easy to hold.

this thing rocks, ive used it for a year, and although not quite as good as a tradional smoker, its still really good. no complaints. weve cooked just about everything, and nothing was ever bad, only great tasting moist foods.
bought mine at home depot, 129.00

Every child should have one
1/4/2008
My son loves his Leapster! He spends time everyday playing one of the cartriges. We take it everywhere with us to keep him occupied, in the car, grocery shopping, waiting for an oil change, etc. As a parent, I love it as well.

A good investment!

We got the Leapster for our then three year olds birthday (last March). He is about to turn four and still loves this as much as the day he first received it. The educational value is wonderful. He watched me play games on my Nintendo DS and will get his Leapster out and sit next to me and play and is very content to be playing his. The games are fun but at the same time many are very educational. Some have "movies" (like Letter Factory) that you can watch as well. Some of the games are quite difficult for him to master yet and he can get frustrated but overall he's able to play almost anything with little problems. His favorite games right now are Dora, Letter Factory, Draw & Write (b/c he likes the drawing thing and the maze game) and Cars which he just got for Christmas.

He has dropped the game so many times and his little brother who will be two has thrown it (I don't recommend this, however, it is electronic after all... but so far it has held up marvelously.

I'm really happy with this purchase and plan to buy my 2 year old his own next year for his birthday when he's three.

Out of all the other options that I checked out including Pixter and V-smile pocket, this was the best and I'm very happy with my choice! I have a friend who has the v-smile and says she likes it but if she didn't have so much money invested in the games from the v-smile console she would have went with a Leapster.

Hope this quick review helps someone with their decision!

Good investment

My 9 year old got the Leapster L-Max for Christmas 2 years ago and it is still going strong. The great thing about this toy is it grows with your child as you buy different games. My son, age 6, got the Leapster this year. I recommend the Leapster over the L-Max because my daughter hooked hers up to the TV twice and had trouble getting it to work right on the TV. It's not worth the extra money. The educational value of the games are great as well.

Not educational; very hard to see the screen
1/2/2008
I really regret buying this toy for my 5-year-old. I bought this instead of a GameBoy or something similar because I thought it might be more educational. Unfortunately, it isn't, and she will outgrow it quickly. I will admit that she loves it -- after all, it's a video game. But it's worthless in terms of its educational value. It teaches things like identification of triangles (uh, yeah, she's 5 -- she knows what a triangle looks like) and how to manipulate video game buttons (last time I checked, that wasn't on any proficiency test). More importantly, the screen is very little and VERY hard to see. I really limit her time on it because she sits squinting at the screen with her shoulders clenched and her neck bent over. Since this is essentially just a video game system with no educational value, I should have saved my money and gotten a Wii or a PlayStation. At least those game systems wouldn't hurt her vision and posture!

Santa nailed it this year!
1/1/2008
As a gift that my daughter was NOT expecting - this Leapster has proven to be her favorite. At a little over 4, I was amazed at how quickly she learned the controls and features. Within minutes of starting her first game cartridge (Go Diego Go Animal Rescuer), she was successfully racking up points in Level 2! The games (we have 3 others) seem to balance education and fun in such a way as to keep a normally short-attention-spanned child entertained for up to an hour. Plus, it's fun to hear a child exclaim "mom, I saved the pygmy marmoset in level 3!". The buttons and stylus are perfectly suited for kid hands and the unit feels durable and cleans up quite easily. Battery life seems to be good too - much to my surprise. Overall, we are very happy with this purchase...way to go Santa!
