Marie Claire (1-year)
quality more so than quantity
I like how more socially/culturally conscious this magazine has become - it usually has an article every month about women's culture in some area of the world. I have gotten the best ideas from this magazine of where my charitable contributions would be greatly needed and used. It's still what I'd consider a lighter read ...I'd say that with this magazine's content it's quality more so than quanti

InStyle (2-year)
A bit glossy and glammy, but okay for entertaining
There is a lot to see and read in this magazine, well, to read about products, not necessarily articles, but the entire magazine has a very shallow and artificial feeling to it. The recent issue with Beyonce was interesting -- I got a new perspective of her and she seems like a nice person, so I don't understand why she still uses furs in her fashions. Anyhow, despite that, the magazine *does* h

Play
Long time subscriber...
PLAY is the only Video Game MAG I have ever subscribed to and currently it's the only subscription I have period. It has great visual style, and often covers games I wanna play. But I'm sure it's not for everyone, and no good magazine of any interest should be.
Dave Halverson and his band of merry geeks have turned me on to many and most of my favorite games. Having said that, the wri

The Artist's Magazine (1-year)
Nice gift
Got this as a gift for my mom who just took up painting. She called to say she got two issues at once, which isn't great because you pay a hefty price for only 6 months of issues and she got one third of the gift at once. She said it's neat and there are a lot of things she's never seen before like names of brush strokes and styles. She excited, so I'm excited. Just wished the first issue would ha

Science News
ScienceNews Magazine
The only problem with buying magazines is the wait time until you get the first issue. Science News magazine was delivered two months after order date. The information in the first issue was kind of blah but was still informative. Would suggest it if you are looking to keep up on scientific issues.

Charleston Magazine
Each issue is almost a work of art
I love reading my new issue of Charleston Magazine. Each issue is bursting with interesting articles about Charleston or the immediate region. If you're interested in Charleston then this resource is a must.
It is kinda over-sized as magazines go but that makes it even better. It is roughly the size of Fast Company or Wired but twice the depth-size. A real enjoyable magazine.

Coin World or Numismatic News? I've been getting both for the past year and Coin World is clearly better. The news coverage is deeper, the letters to the editor are more insightful and it has more advertising. If you can afford both, get both, but if you have to choose, buy Coin World.

Washington Post Weekly-National Edition
Great for political junkies!
If you're a political junkie, probably more left leaning, then the weekly edition of Washington Post hits the spot. This edition includes indepth reports, articles, and their opinion columns for the past 7-10 days of each issue. After living in Washington, D.C. for four years, I got spoiled with the every day and behind the scenes reporting conducted by the Washington Post. This weekly edition

European Car
fun to read
You can tell the editors are enjoying themselves writing about the cars and culture they love, and this makes for a fun read. You won't find tired cliches that seem to run rampant in other, larger auto magazines, like "an over-eager right foot." Lots of cool and highly customized cars to dream about, and plenty of useful features for enthusiasts on a budget.

Be prepared to wait a long time to get this magazi
We live in Texas, so I thought this magazine would inspire some Texas adventures. While the magazine is great, be prepared to wait a long time to get this after you order. I ordered in mid-April and actually got the first issue in mid-July and that was the August issue. In this day and age of technology, why does it take so long to get a magazine out? I know they say 6-10 weeks but that IS a

Fitness magazine is aimed at women who are interested in living a healthy life. Yes, some of it is a bit "fluffy" - like listing reasons to exercise. They also mix in practical advice - how to exercise to get a flatter stomach, to get stronger legs.
There are interviews with inspiring women of all ages, letting you learn what their tricks to stay motivated and active are. There are he

I've subscribed to this magazine since 2001. To help you avoid all misconceptions, there are no stories - it's not a "women's" magazine in that sense. The magazine focuses on the latest styles and fashions and, in my opinion, does not insist on designer name brands to meet these styles but will rather focus on a particular "look" that can be replicated. Many of the items in the actual magazine ar
