Money making book with the most atrocious healthy-eating advice!

The message of this book can be conveyed in one sentence - eat no carbs for eight weeks to give your liver and pancreas a rest, and if you do need to have some carbs keep to the 5x5 rule, which is no more than 5gs of carbs per portion within a 5 hour period of your next carbs portion. It's a money making book with the most atrocious nutritional advice on 'healthy eating' - with meal suggestions including low carb bread (by it's very nature how can a bread be low-carb unless its full of processed ingredients to create an unnatural state of bread to become 'low carb?), hot dogs (full of foul processed meat leftovers), protein shakes, string cheese and the list goes on. A dietician really is recommending to eat unnatural highly processed foods like these, rather than encouraging healthy eating of food in its natural unaltered state? Sorry, not a fan of Diane Kress's take on what constitutes a 'healthy diet'. You might lose weight initially, but her diet food recommendations will have other long term repercussions on the state of your health. Books by authors Patrick Holford and Michel Montignac say the same sort of thing - be careful of high simple complex diets, but these two authors are, I believe, a lot better educated and give more balanced recommendations (based on solid academic medical research studies) on how to lose weight and the benefits of a healthy diet on the long term effects for your overall healthy well-being.

Finally, something that makes sense to me!

I have been frustated for years, trying every diet known to fat women! Not understanding why I couldn't lose weight, even though I didn't eat nearly the amount that others, much thinner than I, do. Diane's plan makes sense to me, and after two weeks, I have lost 2.5kg, and I don't get hungry (a miracle feeling). The book is well written, and very informative! Thanks.

Outstanding program! Great book!

This book is logical, well written with an easy to follow program. The recipes are easy and very good. I would recommend this to anyone ready to try a new approach to weight loss.

Metabolism Miracle worked for me!!!!

Thanks to Metabolism Miracle I have lost 20 lbs in 6 weeks, I am sleeping better, my joints no longer ache, I feel more in control of my carb addiction! My husband joined me on this adventure and of course he is down 26 lbs in 6 weeks, has all ready seen great improvements in his blood work and is feeling much better. Diane Kress truly has done her homework. Her book is a easy read, very easy to understand with lots of great information and suggestions. I have battled insulin resistance for the last four years, trying to gain control over the carbs in my life and steer clear of Type 2. Metabolism Miracle has allowed me to stick with it, enter into step 2, 20 lbs lighter, with a goal of losing another 50 lbs and then the topper to this whole adventure...figuring out just how many carbs I will be able to eat and maintain a healthy blood sugar and not gain my weight back!! Okay, that is a miracle! Thank You Diane Kress for saving my life!

Excellent practical book, but some suggestions need further refinement

This is an excellent book giving a clear and working method for people who are sugar sensitive. The concepts seem to parallel Atkin's Diet popular in the 90s, where watching Carbohydrate levels consumed daily are identified to be far more relevant in weight loss compared to counting calories for sugar sensitive people, which the author refers as Metabolism B. The 3 step plan of the book is more practical and applicable than prior diets. The author emphasizes a transition from step 1 (basically a low carbo diet# of the plan towards gradually increasing carbo levels in steps 2 and 3 up to a personally tolerable level. Beyond this level of carbo's consumed you will regain weight and have a less pleasant life. The book provides food lists that are helpful in quickly categorizing and choosing proper portion sizes, so no need to do counting of carbo grams. I also found the emphasis to consume a minimum level of carbo's every 5 hours to be a crucial point. This is a book that reads well after the fact oriented book Sugar Shock!: How Sweets and Simple Carbs Can Derail Your Life-- and How YouCan Get Back on Trackand a protein focused diet by Potatoes Not Prozac: Solutions for Sugar Sensitivity
What I found lacking, was the author not sufficiently emphasizing individual metabolic differences, where ironically that is the key point of the whole book. The book splits people into two groups, Metabolism A and B, which is fine. However, within Metabolism B or Sugar Sensitive people there are further ramifications. For example, I personable could not allow for coffee or sugar substitutes in my food plan, these seem to register as sugar in my brain #as explained in books Potatoes Not Prozac or Sugar Shock). Yet, the author has plenty of recipes using sugar substitutes. Still the best plan I came across over the years, excellent practical reading.
