Something Else
Another Dull Album From Robin Thicke
When "A Beautiful World" came out, my friends were buzzing about how funky-fun and entertaining is this new guy Robin Thicke. "Evolution of Robin Thicke" was a let down, due to the collection of songs going from slow jam to mid-tempo. Alas, "Something Else" isn't, it's just more of the same, with a little retro thrown in. I guess this is supposed to be an homage to impress the young masses, but

Down to Earth
Four year wait, for this?
I'm a fan of Jems first CD Finally Woken, but this was almost painful. This album just seems to lay there, while trying too hard at too many styles. This is a classic example of a sophomore slump, no doubt about it. A four year wait, for this? Well, at least they got the title right.

Dear Science,
Not quite there...
I pride myself on not falling into the "it doesn't sound like their other stuff" line of criticism when it comes to drastic artistic change, and as TV on the Radio is one of my favorite bands currently in action I have second-guessed my initial off-putting reaction to this album at every turn. But after three and a half listens, I have to say I just can't get into it.

Theme Time Radio Hour: With Your Host Bob Dylan

Nice collection of tracks, but has none of Bob Dylan's commentary and patter from the radio show. That makes this disk a huge disappointment to me.

Janet...If you read these comments, please take the public's advice, we are the people who pay your bills, and maintain your lifestyle. If you make another album, let your man Jermaine Dupri, hook you up. You should have guest appearances of top rappers, and singers for collaborations. You should make a more R&B album like you did with Damita Jo, and 1993's album janet.

Too much crooning!
As a long-time fan of Kurt, I was hoping this album would continue his tradition of walking the innovative "tightrope" that defines the tradition of vocalese as pioneered by Eddie Jefferson, John Hendrix, and Mark Murphy. Instead I heard an entire album of moody crooning derived from his concerts dedicated to Johnny Hartman. I believe this album was recorded in an attempt to widen his commercial a

Don't Forget
not worth the hype
This cd is'nt what its cracked up to be.
i thought this cd would be as amazing as the Jonas Brothers newest album, since Demi has written most of her songs with them. Demi kept saying her songs "are more rock" than what most people think. umm, NONE OF THE NEW SONGS ARE ROCK SONGS!
honestly, i thought only 2 songs on the whole album were good enough to play on the radio

Bring Ya to the Brink
What happened to Cyndi Lauper?!?!?
I always thought Cyndi Lauper was immune to the pressures of the recording industry. Was I proven wrong with this album!
I think I understand what Lauper was thinking when she recorded it: "Madonna did it and she's succesful, so I can do the same!". NOT. She has a tremendous singing voice, her 2003 effort "At Last" was beautiful, to say the least. Why would she ever record an album wi

All the Right Reasons

Nickelback's latest smash is a horrifying testimony to what happens when a really bad band gets really popular. Kicking off with a thudding, awkward rocker that rides its arena-rock cliches - wah-wah, screamed vocals, loud guitar riffs, Zeppelin-ish rhythms- into the ground, it's painfully stale, wearing its grunge-era borrowings like a badge of honor. Okay, so I'm not gonna pretend that Pearl Jam

Awake Live CD/ DVD
Disappointing
Read great reviews on this, however, the majority of songs are not in English. Even if I was biligual, it sounds as though he is singing in at least 4 different languages. While I don't object to songs in different languages, I prefer not to have almost an entire CD of songs I can't understand other than the melody. Probably will not play it very often, or maybe I will give it to someone who want

The Collection
FOR THE BEST RARE EARTH AUDIO, LOOK ELSEWHERE
When purchasing a compilation, often there can be a content vs. audio quality consideration. That is definitely the case here, as this CD has a decent tracklist, but the audio quality is not up to par with several other available compilations.
The audio on this 2004 release is identical to that on the new 2008, complete five studio album (Get Ready, Ecology, One World, Willie

Seeing Sounds
Too inside, too outside
Spread out all over the place.
The influences and styles here, while commendable, are run through the ringer too much. The result is an album made up of songs we don't know what to do with: bob heads to, sing along with, dance to...almost none of these songs is one you can sit back and enjoy. The production is, as always, flawless, and they are to be commended on their ever-challe

Swan Songs
Nice effort but nothing special
The music is good but the lyrics are pretty cheesy and lame. Undead is a great song and there's a few alright ones here and there but this is nothing special regardless of the other 5 star reviews on here. 90% of the lryics are aobut them trying to get women and just cussing a lot pretending they are touch and cool, pretty sad. Check out the new Slipknot that's worthy of 5 stars

Earth To the Dandy Warhols
Messed up vocals
I'm sorry--I am a fan but come on, there's not a song on here with comprehensible lyrics. Too much mumbling and vocal distortion for my tastes. The songs are likeable and freaky enough, but by the end you're about ready to strangle Taylor-Taylor if he doesn't come up with one semi-understandable chorus. The lyrics may well be amazing, but you just can't hear 'em.

Live at the Fillmore
Derek and the Dominos: Live at the Fillmore
I bought this set because of the rave reviews that went with it. And, because I had this snatch of memory from when I was young that I had wanted to buy this. Truthfully everyone, it's a disappointment. I have listened to it several times and while there are certainly songs that I like, and this is Clapton without all of the "maturity", the harmonies are usually bad (just shy of awful in some c

Fortune's Favour
A tough act to follow
I guess in this world of constant evolution from recording artists worth their salt it's no wonder that GBS opt for a transformation to pop music. Only, this isn't their first venture. After a few mediocre trips into popdom with "Sea Of No Cares" and "Something Beautiful" which were passable at best, GBS returned to what they do best on "The Hard And The Easy." The fantastic vintage of that record

Agony & Irony (Deluxe Edition)
On A Positive Note, There Exists GOOD Trio To Expl
It's hard to find words that truly express my full disappointment with this album.
I really wonder if the persons involved in writing music for Alkaline Trio really want to be in the music business at all anymore; let alone for a band that I coveted like Trio. Whatever.
Bands go through changes. They go through bad times. They go through slumps, and they go through courtings. They feel

Undertow
Great music but a bad pressing.
I absolutely love Tool but I somewhat regret buying this LP. The light weight of the vinyl leaves me unsatisfied. Also, the labels look like they were applied by a three year old. The labels were sloppily pressed into the record, cut/torn and don't even feature any artwork (a little boring to look at).

Julianne Hough
Love her, not her music
Julianne is a great dancer.
Her singing is not world class. Unfortunately she sounds like just another pretty blonde who wants to be a country star.
Too many of them already. Most no better or worse than Julianne. We just don't need another one.
You blow the world away with your dancing. Stick with what you are great at.

The Milk-Eyed Mender
Carol Channing meets Little Orphan Annie
That's the only way I can describe this. Or, this description might help too: imagine a tiny elf belting out a Broadway song during a Wicca celebration. Or... wait, I've got it! It's the woman who says "Go Into The Light" in that movie Poltergeist, except now she's singing at a Riverdance concert.
Seriously though, I'm not going to say this music has no merit, it's just that the voice

Tried & True, but also tired and trite
Yawn...... yeah sure it's them, it's Radiohead, but really, I was really hoping for a complete jump forward from the sounds of their lasy few years and do something that would really make us open our eyes, like they did when they made that massive jump from The Bends, to OK Computer, to Kid A, to Amnesiac.
It's well produced, has some good sounds, but it blends too much with the rest of it
