August Rush: Music From The Motion Picture
The Soundtrack delivers as much as the Movie
The soundtrack to the movie devoted to the powers of music is actually quite good. It has a great range from classical to rock, to a funky "not this world" kind of melodies. I recommend this to anyone who saw the movie and thought it was good.
All the vocal singers are professionals and they have done a fantastic job, especially Johnathan Rhys Meyers.
A beautiful soundtrack that will b

Consolers Of The Lonely
Rebirth of the Raconteurs
Consolers of the Lonely was sprung upon the public a mere three weeks after completion in yet another unorthodox indie music release. The Raconteurs successfully avoided any pre-release media hype/promotion, and got their newest album into everyone's hands (in all formats) at the same time.
Although this could be perceived as a rushed album release, the final product sounds anything b

From the Cradle to the Grave
This Album Grows On You
I read some reviews on the album and decided to buy it. I had an older Watson album from the 1990's that I wasn't too impressed with. I am into a little more of the faster paced stuff, Hank III, and more of the rockabilly scene. But I heard a cool Watson song on sirius one day and decided to give him another try. I read reviews for some albums and this one seemed to get the best reviews. SO I gave

Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band Live 2006
Credits? Not all, why?
Ringo IS "The Greatest" when it comes to drumming, charm, and getting some fabulous (although not always FAB) musicians together. Regarding this CD (not the DVD version), I have listened over and over again to it in my office as I work. It really is a good music CD that captures the energy of the concert. I saw him live with this 2006 line-up at Fantasy Springs Resort, Coachella Valley, CA - that'

Forth
The Verve reuinte with stellar soundscapes
The Verve's reunion album, "Forth," is definite proof that the Verve is back to rocking the pants off of everyone...again.
Their "Forth" album's opening songs gripped me from the beginning. The first songs, "Sit and Wonder" and "Love is Noise" had me convinced that the band was back to rocking the pants off of me. Nick McGabe still knows how to play awesome guitar licks, and Richard A

Who We Are
A Quality Album
Lifehouse is one of the better recent bands. This album is a very good collection.
It features good vocals and instrumentation. It contains several catchy songs. The better ones include the following: Disarray, First Time, Whatever It Takes, Who We Are, Broken, and Storm. The last two songs contain a spiritual and likely Christian theme. They are very good.

Take The Weather With You
This one's a keeper
I never know what to expect from a Buffett album. sometimes I can pop it in and listen straight through and love every song. and sometimes there's one song or two I like and the rest are strictly fast forward numbers. sadly there have been fewer keepers than there used to be and I finally realized one reason when I was scanning the credits on this album. I've missed Fingers Taylor more than I kne

River: The Joni Letters (with Bonus Tracks) - Amazon.com Exclusive
A classy tribute to a great American Songwriter
To tell the truth ,I wasn't expecting that much from this album. To me, Joni Mitchell's songs in the original form are hard to top. I haven't even been very impressed with her own recent covers of her classic work. So I put off getting this until recently. I am happy to report that for the most part this CD exceeded my expectations. First of all, I love the downtime mood of the proceedings. Herbie

Talento De Barrio
As good as anything he's done
Out of 15 tracks, 10 are hot. Even the other 5 are still pretty good, better than other Latino artists are coming with right now.
For those who want to just download the best tracks, I recommend Talento De Barrio, Pose, Llamando De Emergencia, Oasis De Fantasia, Que Tengo Que Hacer, De La Paz Y De La Guerra, Salgo Pa La Calle, K-Ndela, Suelta, and Infinito. Of course, for 0.9

Fleet Foxes
Many beautiful moments, but it falters just as oft
I'm a huge fan of Midlake. Like that band, FF is exploring 70's harmonies, and analog recording techniques and instruments. As some others have said here, the songs sometimes go on a bit longer than they ought to. Many of the tracks have a fine sense of building drama to them, but the band errs by drawing some of the tracks into an unneeded closing quiet section. And it is not great that sometim

Detours
Great album from Sheryl!
Sheryl Crow has come a long way since her debut in the 90's "Tuesday Night Musical Club." Granted her style may have changed a bit, but I think it's for the better. My favorite song on the album is "Love Is Free." I love the message and its video. If you're a long time fan of Sheryl Crow you'll enjoy this. If you're just a fan of her radio hits and not a die hard fan you may be dissapointed.

Innocent Eyes
I would give this five stars except that I've seen
Quite simply, Delta has an amazing live show and this cd doesn't really do justice to what she's capable of. The emotion and energy present in her live performances, just isn't really there on her cd. Most disappointing to me is "Innocent Eyes", a song which positively gave me shivers when I heard it live. However, it's still an outstanding cd due to it's thoughtful, well-written lyrics, soaring v

Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific (The New Broadway Cast)
thrilling new "South Pacific"
It's hard to believe that SOUTH PACIFIC has never received a Broadway revival since the original 1949 production (not counting a well-received 1967 Music Theater of Lincoln Center staging which starred Florence Henderson). Happily Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical masterpiece returned to the stage this year in an all-new, acclaimed revival. The cast album captures all the magic and excitement wh

The album as a whole musically and lyrically surpasses his previous Songs We Sing album with stand outs lik

XV
Infectious!
pushing 4.5 stars...
I cannot stop listening to this album - and it's been awhile since I've said that about ANY album. XV, for all of its simplicities, is still hard to categorize; and that's what makes it great. It's the type of album that, while packing a legitimate punch upon first listen, doesn't necessarily blow you away upon first listen; and again, that's what makes it great!

Fear of a Blank Planet
If you are old like me
Than you are hear because you are looking for bands that remind you of Pink Floyd. As there will be no band to take their place, Porcupine Tree is a great place to start. Their mix of keyboards and guitar licks are just what the doctor ordered. The vocals are far from Roger's yelps but you will become addicted to Wilson's voice in the same way. If Roger Waters plays second to your love of David Gi

The Division Bell
A surprisingly fine return to form
When I picked this album up upon its release in 1994, I had not purchased a new Pink Floyd album since the time of The Final Cut. I was very pleasantly surprised with The Division Bell however, and the 1980s textures of Momentary Lapse of Reason were nowhere to be found. Indeed, although very modern sounding, references to their most popular albums released during the 1973-1979 timeframe are sca

What's the Rumpus?
Good But Not Great
I love Gaelic Storm and I love this album. However it is not my favorite (Special Reserve and How Are We Getting Home? are my favorites). The songs are upbeat and happy and all tell great stories but somethings seems off on this album. The CD, though the not greatest of them all, is totally worth getting just to hear Darcy's Donkey.

Jonas Brothers
Jo Bros Make Fun and Upbeat Music
I have recently become a fan of this band. This album is a step up from their debut "It's About Time," with funkier, more complex songs. Hit songs "SOS," and "When you Look me in the Eyes," drive the album, while tracks such as "Goodnight and Goodbye," and "Hello Beautiful," trace te bands evolution from rock to soul. There is something for everyone on this album. The reason for four stars is that

The Shade of Poison Trees
Surprisingly pleasing
I was really surprised by how much I liked this album. When Dusk and Summer came out, I took a listen and I don't even remember anything from that listen except for a thought I had, "Has Chris lost his sense of melody?"
I think Chris regained his sense of melody in The Shade of Poison Trees and also, even more lovely, his sense of harmony. The harmonies on this album are gorgeous and
