Great point and shoot, indestructible

This is all around a great selection for anyone who needs a point-and-shoot digital and might use it for vacations. It's waterproof and pretty indestructible, so how can you go wrong? The size is great, it also has a nice large LCD screen. Standard manual options are available, plus the image-stabilizing capabilities. It could stand for more optical zoom, but since you are able to take very hi-res photos, it's okay to crop images later on your computer and still end up with a fairly large photo. I am happy with its ability to playback and erase images quickly.
This was a gift and the recipient is very happy!

Poor Quality

This camera has poor quality shots and pretty much always requires a flash. The waterproof feature is good, but it doesn't make up for the other bad things. I would not recommend this camera, and if your looking for a good point-and-shoot, get one of the Nikon Coolpix cameras or the Canons.

Hardy little camera

Let me start of by saying that I dropped this camera DOWN A WATERFALL the first time I used it. I bought the camera for when I went waterfall rappelling in Costa Rica and it fell out of my pocket on the way down. Bounced off the cliff edges and survived a beating in the pool at the bottom. Incredible. That being said, the pictures are so-so at best (even before I dropped it :) Color quality is only OK, and pictures are kind of grainy, so it's great for places where you want something rugged, but maybe don't care so much about clarity.

Not waterproof as advertised - Tried two different cameras

I would return this camera if I could. I bought the camera mainly for the waterproof feature. I wanted something that could replace the disposable waterproof cameras I buy occaionally. I should have saved my money and stuck with the disposables. I took this camera snorkelling and it was under only a few feet of water. After drying it off when I had finished I found water had leaked in to both the USB and battery/memory card ports. I returned the camera to Olympus under the warrenty and they sent me a new camera. Unfortunately that one leaked too afer submerging it in the sink. So Olympus suggested I send it back. At least that time they payed the shipping. But the camera still leaked after they returned it. Olympus didn't find anything wrong with it but couldn't tell me what they had tried with the camera when I called customer service. So they suggested I send back it again. I had to pay for the shipping a second time. Again the camera leaked when they returned it to me and they insist there is nothing wrong with the camera when they try it out. It still leaks under a few inches of water. Unfortunately I can't physically take the camera somewhere to show someone the water damage. Olympus has suggested that I return the camera to them for a fourth time but since they have previously insisted that there is nothing wrong with it, I see no point. So I guess I'm stuck with a waterproof camera that leaks.

EZ To Use So Far

I think I love it. So far so good. Reading the book directions was a dull drag but using the directions that are built into the camera are simple and logical.

I'm getting the natural indoor light pictures that I have dreamed of getting. I don't like the look of flash photos except for the famous photographer Weegee's work. You can set the camera in a simple way for the lighting conditions you normally may encouner( even flouresent lights of 3 different types). No complcated f stop settings to learn.
I've taken night photos that work without a flash- using existing light.

I haven't tried it underwater yet but I'm going kayaking in Florida next week so I'll find out. I got the flotation strap that looks huge in the Amazon Photos but it's quite small-I'm trusting that it will live up to the hype.

I love the irredesent lime green of my camera. More when I return.
