I took this camera for a swim two days ago and was very surprised at the quality. The conditions were murky, yet still many of the pictures turned out better than I thought they would. I like how long the battery lasts, (although the original charge didn't last very long) -- once I recharged it, it lasted a long time -- still running after an hour-long swim where I left it on and then looked at the shots after. The only negative that I can think is that there isn't a through the lens viewer. My reading sight is starting to go and I have a hard time seeing the viewer. Also when the sun is out it is impossible to see the LCD viewer so I find myself guessing what I am shooting. Other than that -- I'm a fan and don't regret buying it for one minute.

we love this camera...it is fun to use and knowing that if it gets wet or is dropped...is such a comfort..because my hubbie is hard on things and we have 5 small children who are curious and inventive...

I bought this camera because I work in tropical areas, and having a camera put up with an inundation occasionally is a handy feature. However, I now would love to return this one and get a camera that takes good quality pictures. This one returns consistently disappointing results - the picture quality is just flat-out poor. It never seems to quite get in focus, and the pictures are always soft and somewhat blurry. I had a canon sd700 (which took a dip in a lake - whoops), and the pics it produced were phenomenal, especially compared with this.

Instead of being glad to have a camera that will put up with a beating, I'm bummed that it will do so, because it means i'll be stuck with bad pictures until this camera breaks, which is going to be a long time. Maybe I'll sell it on ebay.

Another frustration with this camera is that Olympus, in their mythic wisdom, decided to make their USB connection proprietary. That is - you cannot use a normal USB-b cable with this to download your pictures. You have to use Olympus' cable. Which means you have to drag around another cable wherever you go. Annoying, to say the least. Infuriating would not be an exaggeration.

I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because it might actually be useful for folks who snorkel, etc.

Good Feel in Hands & Many Colors to Choose from.
7.1MP, Auto Lens Cover, Big LCD Screen that you can actually see in Sun, No Viewfinder though. Waterproof and Dropable from 10ft.How cool is that. Many Menu Settings with lots to choose from.
I really liked the Multiple Frames feature, just hold button down and it keeps shooting, Fun for Sports and Action.
I compared to another waterproof(Pentax)point and shoot I own. The Olympus Picture Quality and Color Saturation far superior and I like the Image Stabilize thing since I always move...
Good Price too.
Buy another Battery and 1 gig card and your set to go anywhere...
