I have the same issue regarding the sound quality. It's very bad. I don't know the technical reasons why, but the sounds seem too cranked up and all mashed together.

Product works as advertised and I think is better than the rigid adapter cables sold by others. The price on these was good so I keep several of them around in car, gym bag etc. One of the annoying aspects of the 1st Generation iPhone is the recessed phone jack. This particular model fits snugly

Avoid Toshiba Products.
I purchased their (expensive) SD 5000 HD player, and it broke for no reason just after 1 year. Customer service was worse than useless. This company's products should be avoided.
