I just recieved mine today 10/21/2010. It was a snap to setup in 15 min and ready to use. With almost no delay when changing channels requireing a change to another satellite for program. This is about as easy to use as it gets. My hat is off to Winegard they have hit a grand slam home run with this unit! No more hassle setting up my old lnb dish. I will get started making my detachable 8ft. swing up rv toung stand I plan to use on my camper easy to swing up and lockable so we don't worry about theft when we are off fishing or sight seeing. If anyone is thinking about buying the Winegard 1518 carry out I highly recommend it!

Something lacking

Winegard has produced an excellent product that does all it claims.
Plug it in and it does indeed find the desired satellite(s) promptly.
It evens maintains usable signal strength in moderate to heavy rain.

I only wish Winegard had been more forthcoming when I bought the product about
how the satellite companies deliver their signals in the US. Satellite companies use 'SPOT BEAMS' to provide focused service for the major networks in specific parts of the country. This means when you move your dish more than a few hundred miles you loose ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and Fox stations. Its called local service eligibility. For RVers, this leaves you without the service you pay for as soon as you move your rig any distance from home. Hello! I bought the dish so my wife would not loose her favorite programs while we move around the country. It was only after a lot of yelling that Winegard finally told me about Spot Beams. I know, I should have learned about these earlier. I have an excuse but that doesn't solve the problem of lost tv programing. So if you are an RVer and plan on moving any distance from your home location, be prepared to use your RV antenna for local channels. You may (or may not) find your favorite program there.
For my part, I spent a lot of money on dish, hardware & satellite service for a very limited return.

This unit worked very well. As talked about in some of the other reviews it does require a 12 volt source. I use it when I am on the road pulling my 5th wheel. All travel trailers have a 12 volt battery. I got one of those 3 in one 12 volt adapters from Wal- mart. The part(Male) that you would plug into the 12 volt aux I cut off and then connected the wire separating the Neg from the Pos then connected to my battery. Now all I have to do is open my battery compartment door and plug in to one of my three female outlets and your up and running
NO longer will I use a dish on a stand!
AS the add says just read the instructions and you are up and running.
I use Dish Network and I have found that after you do the check switch and the page comes up asking if you want to save (and you do) and I select save the same page comes up again, Just select save again then you will see the found satellites.

I would also suggest bringing a ladder with on trips. On one of my RV sites due to a very large RV parking next to me I had to put this on top of my 5th wheel to get my Dish back.

Winegard caryout satilite is very easy to use power connestion Iwish could also be a wall plug.and the power connection is plastic may breaks easy use caution when disconnecting.Is not HD for Dtv. overal very satisfied
