8 of 8 people found the following review helpful: Fantastic sharpener 12/27/2007 This tool belongs in every woodworker's shop. I have used the Scary Sharp method for years with a honing guide, excellent results, but time consuming. This tool, the Work Sharp 3000 gave me an edge to shave with in less than 5 min on a old chisel that I use to scrape glue blobs off of the bench top and to split glued joints when recovering wood. Needless to say the cutting edge was in rough shape. it is now as sharp as any in my shop. This tool works as advertised, I have no reservations about recommending it. Thank You. I opened the box read the instructions and assembled it in 15 minutes or so. I sharpened 5 chisels so far. 3 new ones and 2 old chisels in bad shape. In less than 1 hour they will all shave hair from my arm. I've never successfully sharpened chisels before so I am very happy with it. I am very happy with the purchase. Thank You. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: my experience with the work sharp 12/14/2007 I tried the scary sharp method because I was trying to go cheap and while it works well, my time for woodworking is very limited so I looked around for something to speed up the process and stumbled across the worksharp. It is very easy to figure out and getting the dang angles right and trying to make sure the chisels and plane blades are locked into a jig right are a thing of the past. Thank You. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful: Great sharpener and a good value 12/10/2007 This sharpener has been very easy to use and perhaps the best value on the market. Its better for sharpening then a cheap bench grinder, and much more affordable then one of the higher end systems like the Tormek. For small blades and chisels this unit works great. I used to do my sharpening with waterstones and a Veritas MK II honing jig. While that method worked very well I often did not have the motivation or patience to do so. Using the woodsharp the process is much faster now and the results are the same. Unless you need to sharpening longer blades I wouldnt hesitate getting this system. Thank You. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful: sharp as a razor 12/1/2007 Having read the reviews on this item I decided to order one. With an investment in fine chisels, planes, scrapers, etc. it was important to keep the tools honed, ready for use at all times. I have hand held lapping stones, bevel guides, and water stones. But having used the WS3000 for the first time relegates the manual tools to the dusty shelf. It took literally less than 15 minutes to hone and resharpen 6 chisels from 1 1/2 inches wide to 1/4 inch wide. Keeping 4 grits on the two glass wheels couldn't make the job any easier. I progressed from 120 to 1000 with excellently sharpened chisels. Now to try the same for my planer knives. Thank You. Was this review helpful?
