9 of 10 people found the following review helpful: Read the instructions! 8/5/2007 This unit, and the 700 watt unit, clearly state in the instructions that th only way to get those wattages from them is by connecting them directly to the battery. That's why they provide the clamps for when you're camping or such. The wires and fuse for the lighter socket cannot handle that kind of current. It's perfect for a laptop, but trying to do much more than that will blow your fuse and you'll probably blame the inverter. This is a great little unit, but I only wish that it had an aux lighter socket on it so I can use my radar detector (maybe I should just obey the speed limit, some of those radars out there are too good for even my highest rated detector). We took a trip recently and plugged in our laptop, so the kids could watch a movie. The power would constantly cut off after only a couple minutes of use. We figured out that we could hold the XPower at a certain angle at it would work most of the time. Unfortunately we are past the 30 day period to return it. Maybe we just got a bad one? I would definitely recommend to try it out before the 30 day period. Thank You. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: cheap inverter but works. 7/16/2007 I haven't used this on a long trip or anything just tested to see if it works and it does. i like how the fan only kicks on when u use power. so even if the inverter is on, the fan only turns on when u draw power. ill update once I've got more time using it. The only problem was that the DVD players had wide plugs so we had to pick up a couple of extentions($5@Wal-mart) so they would work. Never had a problem. Very convienent! Thank You.
