2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Xylitol - the Revolution in Oral Hygiene Care 9/1/2008 Xylitol is a natural sugar-alcohol (from birch trees), that is sweet tasting, but cannot be metaboliszed by bacteria for food (and humans cannot metabolize it either). When bacteria feed on sugars in the mouth, they ingest them and produce acids, which dissolve the enamel and produce cavities. What is unique about Xylitol is that when bacteria ingest it, it does not provide any nourishment and the bacteria actually starve to death! Thus, it helps rid the mouth of disease-producing bacteria! Brush 3-4 times a day to keep those bacteria dying. Xlear comes in both non-fluoride and fluoride varieties. I recommend the fluoride toothpaste, as fluoride has shown its effectiveness in strengthening tooth enamel, thereby reducing the incidence of cavities. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: Great product! 5/7/2007 My dentist told me to start using this product because it helps prevent cavities and sinus infections. Apparently, the xylitol in Spry toothpaste kills the bacteria that causes these problems. Since I began using this product, I haven't had one sinus infection and I would normally have had at least one or two by now. It's a great product and I highly recommend it. Thank You. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful: Excellent plaque fighting toothpaste 4/15/2007 This toothpaste is excellent for fighting plaque and preventing cavities. It actually kills the plaque and cavity causing bacteria in your mouth. I have been using it for 6+ months and just went for a professional cleaning this week. The hygenist commented on how easy the cleaning was - I had hardly any tartar for her to scrape off. She said my gums looked very healthy and of course I had no cavities either. I would love it if the makers of Spry came out with a whitening formula, but I will stick with the regular Spry until they do. Highly recommended. Thank You. Was this review helpful?
