College Essentials Back to College Preparations
Wednesday, August 19th, 2009Right after our kiddos go back to school College season kicks in too. It is not too late to stock up on all the necessities for your college-aged children. Your to-buy list may be rather long if it is their first year away from home. It does get a little more complex and more expensive as they grow up and even though you do not have to go broke to get them the essentials, be prepared to purchase items in the following categories.
Classroom supplies, stationery, pens and pencils, notebooks clipboards and more are a must. Textbooks are something they can purchase second-hand or even rent. There are always cheaper options to buying them new.
A laptop is no longer a luxury, especially for college students. Many classroom assignments may be sent in to the teachers via e-mail, and the Internet is the largest research center they can have access to via their personal computer.
Of course Backpacks and laptop case is also in order. Some backpacks have a pouch that protects a reasonably-sized computer.
If your student is going to college away from home, then you will need to think of dorm essentials, such as bedding and storage units and sometimes even décor – to include a reading lamp, a bedside lamp, a cooler, and towels and toiletries for the bathroom.
Even though it is ultimately your child’s responsibility to feed him or herself, it is good to pack them off to college with plenty of power foods to have on hand, such as protein drinks and Protein Bars, for those late nights when they need to fuel their energy to study.
