Many people say they want to write, but few actually sit down and do it. Fear often gets in the way of satisfying a calling to communicate or make art. Some of the most common excuses for not writing are lack of time and lack of ideas.

The only way to be a writer is to actually write, the same way as to be a runner you must run. Life will always get in the way, but you must learn to make time for your writing, because writing will not make time for you.

Ask yourself what it is that you want to write and set some goals. If you want to pen a novel, read books about plotting. Write a synopsis of the book, then break it down into chapters and summarize the traits and motivations of your characters. Then, write a little or a lot every day until you finish the book. You will know when it is done. Let it sit for a while and proceed to rewrite, rewrite and rewrite.
